HAPPY ACCIDENTS FEATURED ON NPR's BEST OF 2009 LIST

DOMINIQUE, THE MISSING GUITAR, COMES HOME!
Seven years ago Billy's first Taylor guitar was dropped by Delta baggage handlers and broken. Since several folks witnessed it along with Billy, Delta agreed to send a check to replace the guitar - provided that Billy send Delta the broken guitar to "destroy." Destroy? thought Billy.... Certainly they don't actually mean to totally destroy her....?!? Further inquiry revealed that yes, that's what they meant, in order to prevent fraud. So Billy sent the guitar off with a note that read "This Guitar's name is Dominique. She has given me many beautiful songs. Please have mercy on her and don't destroy her! She's broken, but could be repaired. Send her back, or donate her to a church or homeless shelter or something! Thanks, Billy."
The guitar was received by Delta and they sent Billy a check to purchase a new one, and that was that.... Until a month ago when a strange email arrived: "Hi - I have a guitar named Dominique that I can return to you if you still want it." It was from merciful soul at the 'destruction' facility. Long story short, she's back! And still very broken! Still, seven years later, it's a miracle. Billy credits it to good feng shui (he's been cleaning out his basement) and the kindness of strangers. We'll keep you posted on Dominique's rehabilitation....!
